The “Fryderyk” Music Award has been awarded in Poland since 1995. Since 1999, it has been awarded by the Phonographic Academy established by the Association of Audio-Video Producers. The name of the award refers to the name of the Polish composer Fryderyk Chopin. Voting takes place in two rounds. In the first, members of the Academy vote for their chosen record from the list of record publoshing houses of a given year, which is created on the basis of applications sent by record publishing houses. After this vote, nominees are selected in each category. In the second round, members of the Academy vote again – this time for only one of the nominations in each category. Voting is secret and the results are summarized by an independent audit firm.
